The secret of a first-class hotel mattress
Have you ever wondered what makes the perfect hotel mattress? In this interview, Philip Jandrisits, Head of Administration at Symphonic by ADA, reveals the secrets of restful sleep in hotels and gives tips on which factors hosts should look out for in new hotel mattresses.
What is the key to a good night's sleep in a hotel?
Hosts know that the quality of sleep has a major impact on the holiday experience and the satisfaction of the overall stay. Our primary goal is to create retreats with the right hotel furnishings where guests can not only spend the night, but also really feel at ease and relax. When developing furniture and mattresses, we place particular emphasis on the topic of "restful sleep". We rely on our specially developed Symphonic by ADA mattresses and matching slat base systems, which together form a first-class sleeping system. Of course, there is more to restful sleep than a perfect mattress. Room temperature, ventilation and sound insulation play an equally important role."
How do you define the ideal hotel mattress?
The ideal hotel mattress is a mixture of first-class quality, ergonomic adjustment, excellent air circulation, practicality and sustainability. It is an all-rounder that offers a restful sleeping experience for a wide range of guest needs. It also fulfils ecological standards. All our mattresses are labelled with the OEKO-Tex standard and therefore carry the 'Confidence in Textiles' seal.
Some of our hotel mattresses are also characterised by special properties. For example, our ATANO Premium TFK micro pocket spring core mattress. The mattress can be ordered as a partner or reversible mattress - an innovative design with two cores in one cover.
Why do guests often find hotel mattresses so comfortable?
This perception is no coincidence. Many hotels not only invest in beautiful furniture when furnishing their properties, but also in first-class mattresses. High-quality materials are used, such as the barrel pocket spring core, which consists of individually wrapped, interconnected springs that ensure the best point elasticity. This means that each spring reacts individually to the individual body pressure. In addition, our mattresses are made up of 5 or 7 zones and therefore offer optimum relief. This individuality and adaptability, together with the quality of the mattress, ensure a 'cloud nine sleep experience' in the hotel.
What criteria should hosts consider when choosing a new hotel mattress?
They should definitely put themselves in the shoes of their guests and find out what their needs are. I recommend testing the mattresses before buying. Try lying on different mattresses for at least 10 minutes.
Especially in a hotel, a mattress should also be easy to clean for hygiene reasons. Removable, washable covers are a smart choice. In addition, double cloth covers are an excellent choice for durability. A topper is also ideal for box spring beds as a protective layer - and of course as an extra sleeping experience on top. Hotel mattresses should also be made of flame-retardant materials in order to comply with safety standards in public buildings.
In the private sector, mattresses are usually replaced every 8 to 10 years. How does the lifespan of a hotel mattress compare to this?
Due to the much higher wear and tear, hotel mattresses should be replaced within 2 and 5 years, especially as soon as visible or noticeable dents appear. However, every 5 years at the latest to ensure optimum hygiene.
A little tip: An earlier replacement cycle, for example after 3 years, can secure additional points in the star classification.
Can Symphonic hotel mattresses also be purchased by end customers?
End customers can also buy our Symphonic by ADA mattresses and the luxurious hotel-style sleeping experience that goes with them. We are happy to help you find the perfect mattress and advise interested parties by phone or e-mail.
